Volume 2 left us with a bit of a cliffhanger… but we didn’t have to wait long for it to be resolved as Chloe marched straight over to Max’s place and demanded answers. As badly as Chloe needed to end her relationship with Max to save her career, their pull towards each other was just too strong. Max and Chloe were both beginning to realize something neither would admit to the other. This relationship had gone way beyond convenient sex; true, deep feelings were involved. Regardless of the risk, Chloe can’t stay away from Max and they continue to see each other in secret… adding to the already risky nature of their relationship. Volume 3 gave us Max and Chloe: The Couple. Secret getaways where they could hold hands and stroll the streets was exactly what their relationship needed. But all that goodness doesn’t erase the situation standing in front of Chloe and Max. Someone is stalking Chloe. They are finding it more and more difficult to keep their relationship secret. Max’s father is clearly up to something and none of it can be good, but when he shows up at Chloe’s gala with someone from Max’s past, Chloe has had enough. She is no longer falling for Max’s charms… she is ending this relationship once and for all. That is where we are left… I CANNOT wait for Volume 4 and the conclusion to Max and Chloe. I know Elisabeth Grace is going to bring us one heck of an ending!

When we left Max and Chloe, it wasn’t looking good for them. I’m sure you can figure out that they got out of that little predicament; otherwise, there would be no need for volumes 3 and 4. Max and Chloe are getting to know each other in and out of bed and the sex is scorching. These are some ridiculously hot sex scenes. You can tell, underneath it all, that Max and Chloe are starting to have feelings for each other… and honestly. How can they not? For Chloe, she needs this job and cannot let the distraction of Max stand in her way of her achievements. The lines between friends with benefits and falling for each other are starting to blur? But what happens when Chloe is forbidden from speaking to Max? What happens when Max’s slimeball of a father wants him to spy on the competition? Nothing good, I am certain, but we will have to wait for Volume 3 to find out!

“I, what? I did not…” she stammered.

Good. I had her off-kilter. At least now I knew the feeling was mutual. “Look, it’s fine.” I shrugged and grinned, showing her I wasn’t all that bad. “Why did you take off that night?”

She looked at me, contemplating her answer. “I was embarrassed. I’ve never done anything like that before. I had a little too much to drink and let’s just say I wasn’t thinking clearly.”

I took a step closer, my gaze locking on hers. My hand moved to her face and cupped her jaw. I couldn’t resist. “Oh, I’d say you were clear enough with me about what you wanted.” I grinned and inched closer to her. The heat between us was palpable. I enjoyed making her uncomfortable. Maybe it was payback for her having left me in the dust that night.

Who am I kidding? It was the attraction that still pulsed between us, even months later, in the light of day and stone-cold sober.

Her mouth dropped open. “Please, you were the one who kissed me first!”

“True, but you were the one who straddled me like you were gearing up to ride bronco,” I said with a pretend laisse-faire tone.

(Due to the short length of these installments, my reviews will be shorter. I write a wrap up review after all four volumes are completed)

Let me start my review by saying, this is a serialized novel in four parts. You will get a new part every two weeks. Now normally, I avoid books like this. I read so many books a week, that by the time the next installment comes out (usually at least 6 weeks), I have moved on. Unless the book was a 5 ++ star read for me, I would have a hard time recalling the events. With that being said READ THIS SERIES!!! I have had the pleasure of reading the first two installments and they are nothing short of fantastic! Right out of the gate, I was fully vested in Max and Chloe, two people from different worlds who have a chance meeting. Their first encounter is seriously hot. Even beyond the sex, you can tell there is a connection there. Too bad Chloe isn’t interested in exploring it and she runs off on Max. Two months later, Max shows up in Chloe’s hometown. The sparks immediately start flying. They agree to a “sex only” relationship. Max is in Maine for only a short time, so it can’t amount to anything real regardless. I can’t wait to see what happens when Max and Chloe try to check their feelings at the door.
